GM Blacktop

GM Blacktop is a Canadian born truck driver, international singer, and award-winning songwriter who has logged nearly three million miles during his 30-year trucking career. This impressive number of miles, and experience, has been made up from time put in as an owner/operator, operations manager, as well as a company driver.

With his deep passion for singing and songwriting, GM classifies himself in the unique niche of Lifestyle Songwriter and performer.  He tells stories of real life. And the first-hand experience of the trucking lifestyle on the blacktop. His original lyrics and sound reflect in his range of songs from ballads to a flare of country and rock. 

His first influence on music was instilled by his dad teaching him to play guitar. GM expanded his interest in music as a member of a number of bands during his high school years. Venturing further, he began songwriting in his early 20's, and hasn't stopped since. 

 A second influence on GM was the music icon, Elvis Presley. Elvis's persona, musical talent, entertainment style, and "coolness", caught GM's attention as an important part of being a musician and entertainer.

After GM's first album, Overdrive Tracks, was released, GM and his band toured eastern Canada and U.S., all while continuing his trucking career. The release of two more albums, Real and Still Real, followed . GM's songs and albums are a reflections of events and chapters in life...each telling a story. Those who listen to his albums frequently comment, "You get to know who he is, and what he is made of as an entertainer".

GM's songs are, and have been, featured on radio stations locally and internationally, including Music Mafia Radio and Lead Pedal Radio. GM was honored to be included on Lead Pedal Radio's Preferred Artist List. And, was one of the Artist's of the Month for November 2025 on Lead Pedal Radio. "Together We Rock", brand new single released in July 2025, spent 11 weeks on Music Mafia Radio's Top 20 Country Countdown.

In 2023, GM was presented with a Silver award in the Songwriter Category at the International Singer Songwriter Associations (ISSA) Awards ceremony. Then, in 2025, GM won the Silver award for Musician of the year at the ISSA Awards.

Songs featured on Ice Road Truckers 3. And opening shows and tailgate parties for several international recording artists.

After taking time to refocus his career, the current agenda is focused on promoting GM, and GM Blacktop Music, within the industry, on numerous social media platforms, and with fans and sponsors. There are more CD's in the works with plans for release in the near future. GM also continues to work in the trucking industry while writing music, taking time in studio recording, and lining up a performance schedule.
